The Importance of Upgrades in World of Warcraft
Upgrades are a brand new type of item that gives a boost to your stats. They can be used to upgrade your armor, trinkets and weapons.
To calculate probabilities, item upgrades employ a "upgrade pity". This system is meant to limit the chances of losing and provide an adequate safety net when upgrading.
Armor
The item upgrader allows players to improve the level of equipment on their trinkets, armor and weapons. The upgrades are applied to the equipment through a visit to an item upgrader NPC with appropriate currencies. The stats of an item are also upgraded when upgrading it.
This NPC can be found in all major cities and is located in the city's corner square, near a teleporter point. The NPC is able to upgrade any armor, weapon or trinket, with the exception of those that require a quest or crafting.
Note: The equipment you use to apply an upgrade is a consumable item for the duration of time. You are not able to apply multiple upgrades to one piece. If you try to do this, the previous upgrade will be overwritten.
Upgrade your equipment to increase the damage, your endurance and your overall power. For instance, if you have new Benthic gear that you purchased from the War Within Mythic Dungeon, it will be ilvl 385 by default and can be upgraded to a higher level with [Prismatic Manapearls]. Upgrades to your PvE equipment are available to all accounts. Upgrades to your PvP gear require an appropriate currency such as [Valorstones] and [Harbinger Crests(Harbinger Crests). The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade additional gear in an armor slot decreases after the initial upgrade.
Weapons
Weapons are a key component of any successful character, whether employed to deter an intruder, kill an intruder, win a shooting competition or simply hang on the wall. Whatever way you decide to utilize a specific weapon, you should be aware that it's possible to upgrade it and change according to your style of play.
Upgrades to weapons can be made by visiting a Blacksmith who has a Weapon Workbench available. Blacksmith Hewg, located in the right section of the Roundtable Hold hub, is an excellent choice to upgrade your primary weapon. There is also a Smithing Master called Iji located at the "Road to the Manor" Site of Grace in the northwestern region of Liurna of the Lakes. Smithing Master Iji improves both armor and weapons.
In general upgrading an item will increase the level of its weapon by 5. However in the case of Azerite weaponry (see below) and other special weaponry the item's ilvl increases by 15. A player can only have one upgrade in play at any one time. If you try to upgrade a weapon when another upgrade is being applied it will fail and your weapon will be restored to its original level.
Upgrades don't just boost the item level but also provide it with additional stats that can be used to increase its effectiveness. Some upgrades are passive, while others will provide more damage, faster attacks, increased range, or critical strike chance.
Some weapons can be upgraded to a higher level with an Ashes of War weapon, which is rewarded for defeating certain bosses in raids. Whetblades are rare items which unlock new weapons.
Once a weapon is fully upgraded the weapon will continue to receive additional upgrades in the event that the player has the correct upgrade materials and currency on the table. You should be aware that weapons can only reach ilvl 25, and no higher. Players should upgrade their weapons only after they've completed the maximum amount of upgrades from the regular and Whetblade item.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a special item that offer a variety of Boosts. They can be upgraded just like other equipment through interaction with an Item Upgrader NPC.
Stardew Valley is the place where you can locate an upgrade tool for items. To make use of it, you must un-equip any weapons or armor. The NPC will then appear with a red banner "Equiped" over his head.
