World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players increase the gear rating of an item up 700 points, and then add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their distinctive stats. (For example the perfect broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons don't change much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. This bonus could be greater than the damage that an upgrade alone can cause.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to rise until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons will also change the stats of the base. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are very lucky.
It is possible to upgrade armor items to increase their stats. This can boost the base defense of a chest or helm while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it could reroll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading along with the values of these stats. This means that the weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circling arrows in the menu for items. This will reroll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make a huge difference to your survivability. Certain sets can offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to traverse difficult terrains. In general, the greater defense your character has, the more value you will get from each point of health you have and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as much as possible.
To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock them all, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the fountain in question, you can then talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to keep up in frigid environments with a lot of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll need to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you use for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be beneficial to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, item upgrade is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Upgrading a trinket is an economical alternative to buying a new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the previous trinket but will also have an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets are no longer useful, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are an extremely popular alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first, followed by their secondary gear, and then other equipment that they won't replace anytime soon (such as rings or cloaks). However, a re-upgrade is likely to ruin the previous trinket in the event that it is not salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
